Olis CLARiTY 1, 2, and 3

The “Little Miracle Instrument” versions of CLARiTY

The OLIS Individual-wavelength CLARiTY series - the IC models - give you three decimal place accuracy in 4 seconds of whatever light-absorbing sample you need to measure. Clarified protein in clear solvent? Easy. Protein concentration in suspension? Easy. Unfiltered vaccine, beer, wine, syrup? Easy. And correct. And fast.

Make your measurement on the sample you choose with no limitations of a cuvette spectrometer.

Finally! The clarification, filtration, centrifugation, and pre-measurement steps you take now for a cuvette spectrometer become 100% your choice to take or not take. The instrument imposes zero constraints on the level of light scattering by the sample.

"We are so excited to be done with filtering forever!
This is a little miracle instrument."

PRECISE!

3rd decimal place accuracy

It’s a "Little Miracle Instrument"

One, two, and three wavelength version of the IC series are available (see below). Pipette your sample into the integrating cavity. Press Measure. See the answer 4 seconds later. Optics support exactly and only the wavelengths you request at time of purchase (e.g., 280 and 650 nm).

The integrating cavity has a variable pathlength up to 30 cm, allowing use of samples 1/30th the concentration, i.e., use of minimal sample volumes (1 part sample, 29 parts solvent).

The OLIS IC series is the fastest, easiest, and most accurate means of collecting the correct abs/ cm reading on clear and light scattering (turbid, hazy) samples.

Example Applications:

Protein Concentration with the IC280
Dairy UV pasteurization with the IC254
Malts, Wort, Beer Color with the IC430
Internal Standard with the IC460
Syrup & Sugar Color with the IC560
Wine Color, Hue & Intensity with the IC420/520/620
Your Application with the IC XYZ: You specify any 1, 2, or 3 wavelengths within 240-1100 nm

Scatter does not matter. Haze is okay.

If you want or need to make measurements on samples that scatter light everywhere, you need CLARiTY. Choose the IC280, the IC430, or other appropriate model. And never worry about scatter again.

The CLARiTY Advantage

Integrating Cavity Spectrophotometers For a Powerful New Generation of Measurements

Everyone knows about spectrophotometers that use cuvettes. With cuvette spectrophotometers, accurate results are possible only with perfectly clear samples. When the sample is hazy or turbid, the light beam carrying the absorbance information is scattered, much of it away from the detector. The answer is therefore higher absorbance than is correct.

We compared the Nanodrop and a good UV/Vis with the IC 280.

Key Conclusions:

  • Our technology cannot tell whether the sample is clear or hazy and (2) results reach the theoretical ‘perfect.’

  • The Nanodrop (1) differentiates hugely between clear and scattering samples and (b) even its best results are far from ‘perfect.’

  • The cuvette spec is better than the Nanodrop but not as good as CLARiTY for clear solvent and it’s just lousy with turbidity.
